Coaching

I enjoy coaching our nation’s youth. Particularly those that live under my roof! This fall, I am coaching my sons’ flag football team through Southbrook Church’s Legacy Sports program. It’s a great program, and I can’t say enough about it or its director, Scott Tyson.

Our team, the Steelers, is a collection of energetic, smart and FAST 6 to 8-year-olds. One of the most fun things about coaching this age group is seeing how they “interpret” your plays after the ball is hiked. Very entertaining. It reminds me sometimes of what it must be like to attempt to herd cats. But, as the season rolls on, execution gets better and better. It is a coach’s reward to see where the boys are at the end of the season, as compared to when the first practice opened up.

I have been emailing out practice schedules to my players’ parents, but now that I have a shiny new blog, I think I will post everything here and let those who want to come and get them.
