Welcome to Bloggin Old School!
Hey kids!
Welcome to my latest blogging attempt. First, we’ll start with a simple introduction. I am Chris Beck, aka thirddaydev, a Ruby on Rails programmer and certifiable computer geek living in the Charlotte, NC area. I have been programming for the web since 1995, and am thankful that I get to spend all day doing something for money that I used to do for free back in the day. Don’t tell my boss though - I am getting ready to hit him up for a raise
Earlier tonight, I got a wild hair and drug my old Apple G3 out of the garage and started it up. Man, there was a lot of great old stuff on there! It brought me back to the days when I was in college, the Internet was referred to as the Information Super Highway (God, I hate that phrase), and I seemed to have a lot of opinions to share. Of course, there were no cool blogging engines like Word Press or Joomla! back in the day, so I used to use HotMeTL or Dreamweaver (pre-1.0 beta) or Adobe Go Live to put together my sites.
Over the years, my passion for sharing waned, and before blogging became the next big thing, I had pretty much quit. I was now working the biz; creating sites for others. I didn’t have time to get in touch with the left-side of my brain anymore. Or at least, that’s what I told myself.
The non-technical, somewhat silly and perhaps slightly off-beat blog of Chris Beck. Those of you who know me will know this is not a stretch.
